The Carterville Lions are coming off an impressive perforamce this past Friday Night as they improved their SIRR Conference - Ohio Division record to 3-1 after the 49-41 win on the road at Murphysboro.

The Lions have taken firm control of the conference with the win. their previous conference wins came over Herrin and Harrisburg earlier this season.

The Lions are now 9-8 on the season.

Begininning Monday night, the Lions will begin play in the 49th Annual Benton Invitatational Tourney.

This year, the BIT has gone back to a braket play tourney, replacing the round-robin format that was used for several years.

The bracket format was how the BIT was set up forty nine years ago by Herrin Coach Rich Herrin.

I had a chance to catch up with Benton Head Coach Ron Winemiller this past week, and we talked about the upcoming BIT:

The BIT will kick of on January 15th, with the Carterville Lions playing the second game of the night, when they face the Bobcats of Meridian.

Here is the bracket for the 49th BIT
