The Carterville Lions are back in action in the 49th Benton Invitational Tourney on Thursday night when they face the Sesser-Valier Red Devils.

Sesser-Valier suffered 62-33 loss to the host Benton Rangers on Monday night.

The Lions had a tough night in their matchup against the Meridian Bobcats. The Lions only scored 2 points in the 3rd quarter and found themselves down 18 points early in the fourth quarter. They eventually cranked up the defense and started making shots in the fourth quarter, getting as close as three points late before falling 52-47.

The 9-9 Lions now face the 4-11 Red Devils on Thursday night with tip-off set for 6:00 PM. Game two of the evening will feature Vandalia against Hamilton County.
