Lions Improve to 3-1 After Win at Vienna

Coach Shane Hawkins and the Carterville Lions improved to 3-1 on the season after their 63-59 win over the Vienna Eagles on Tuesday night.


The Lions got a hot start from their senior guard Josh Waller, as he scored 12 of his game high and career high 22 points in the first quarter to pace the Lions to a 17-13 lead after the first quarter.


The Lions led at halftime 31-27, and 50-39 after after three quarters.


The Eagles picked up the defensive pressure in the fourth quarter, as they cut the lead down to one point late. The Lions finished strong and walked away with the four point win.


Josh Waller was selected as our Player of the Game with 22 points.

Drew Barrington had 15 points and Kaden Wilson finished with 10 points and played an outstanding defensive game.

The Lions face their first SIRR Conference Ohio Division game this Friday night as they host the Herrin Tigers in the home schedule opener. John Homan and Scott Hudson will have the call on NewsRadio WJPF (AM1340/FM99.5).

The schedule doesn't get any easier as the Lions will be at Pinckneyville on 12/12, at Goreville on 12/15. The Lions return home on 12/16 when they host the Nashville Hornets, then the Harrisburg Bulldogs come to town on 12/19.
