What a way to start the 2025 football season for the Lions. I don't know about you, but I don't have many finger nails left after the first two weeks of the season.
After beating Marion 35-34 and scoring the winning touchdown with just over three minutes, left, the Lions get the go ahead touchdown against the Hornets with just thirty eight seconds remaining.
It was Johnny Miller's cut back and five yard run that game the Lions the 21-14 win over Nashville.
If you missed the game, here are the game highlights as heard with Keenan Clark and myself on NewsRadio WJPF and on our YouTube channel.
Here are the comparison stats from Friday NIght's win over the Nashville Hornets:
Lions | Hornets | |
Total Plays | 80 | 57 |
Passing Yards | 90 | 354 |
Rushing Yards | 289 | 33 |
Turnovers | 1 | 2 |
3rd Down Efficiency | 7-16 | 4-11 |
Penalty Yards | 44 | 5 |
Johnny Miller ran for 194 yards while Andy Johnson added 86. Carter Jones chipped in 9 additional yards.
Andy Johnson was 15/25 passing for 90 yards. Zach Carter led the Lions in receiving yardage with 3 catches for 30 yards. Hayden Harrel 4/25, Aiden Swallers 5/21, Drake Capie 2/6 and Jamie Jones 1/8.
The Lions hit the road this week as they make the 2 1/2 hour drive to Charleston to face the Trojans.
The Trojans are 0-2 on the season, losing to Robinson on the road in week one, 41-6 and dropping their week two road game to Paris 48-14.
You can join in on the broadcast on NewsRadio WJPF (AM1340/99.5) and on wjpf.com. Plus, you can also listen on riverradiosportscentral.com Keenan Clark and I will also have our YouTube livestream available. You can watch the game here:
