Thank You Seniors

Tyler Bittle, AnneElise Dunderdale, Luke Stritzel, Bethany Akinduro, Tony Krouse, Delaney Howerton, Dylan Moore, Ali Turner and Cody Rector

Tonight is Senior Night for the Carterville Lions as they host the Harrisburg Bulldogs at CHS.

The seniors from basketball and cheerleading that will be recognized tonight include (seen above):

Tyler Bittle, AnneElise Dunderdale, Luke Stritzel, Bethany Akinduro, Tony Krouse, Delaney Howerton, Dylan Moore, Ali Turner and Cody Rector.

As always, we will talk to each of these seniors following tonight game during our post-game show on NewsRadio WJPF.

The Lions will try to bounce back from back-to-back losses last weekend to Nashville and Sparta.

Scott and I will have the call on NewsRadio WJPF starting at 7:30 pm. You can also watch the game on our YouTube live stream as well.

Also, I want to say thank you to Coach Randy Smithpeters and the Harrisburg Bulldogs who agreed to move the game that was originally scheduled to be played last night. With the girls basketball team playing in the regional semi-finals AND the Jr High boys basketball team playing in a state semi-final game, it would be hard to be in three places at one time.

Lady Lions Advance to Regional Final in Carbondale

Carterville Girls Varsity Basketball Team

Speaking of the girls basketball team, last night the Lions jumped all over the Carbondale Terriers in the Carbondale Regional semi-final, forcing 14 turnovers in the first quarter and leading at the end of the first quarter 30-7.

The Lions didn't look back as they roll to a 70-34 win to advance to the regional final game on Thursday night at 7:00 PM.

I had a chance to talk to Head Coach Matt Crain after the game:

Jeniah Thompson led the Lions with 22 points, Megan Barton had 16 and McKenzie Rogman added 10.

The Lions will face the Centralia Orphans in the final.

Good luck Thursday night ladies.

Carterville Jr High Lions Head to State Final

Carterville Jr High Boys Basketball Team

Coach Cory Clouser and the junior Lions will play for the Class L State Championship game on Thursday night at 7:30 pm at Rend Lake College.

They beat Wesclin 56-48 on Wednesday night.

They will take on Wolf Branch from Swansea, IL Thursday night. The Lions are 21-3 overall and are playing great basketball.

Good Luck Lions!

Hope you see you all at Lion games this week.
