Regional Title On the Line Tonight For Lions

Head Coach Matt Crain and the Lions will play for a regional title tonight when they face Benton at Johnston City High School tonight at 7:00 PM.

The winner will advance to the Carterville sectional that will start next week.

The Lions are coming off a hard-fought win over 56-39 over Carmi-White County Wednesday night. The Lions, the #2 team in Class 2A in the state will take on the Benton Rangerettes who put away Hamilton County in the other Regional semi-final 40-18.

Bucky Dent of The Southern has a complete wrap up of both semi-final games.

Meanwhile, shortly after the ladies start their game in JC, Coach Shane Hawkins and the Lions boys team will tip-off on the road in Nashville to face the #8 team in Class 2A Hornets.

The Lions split their two games last weekend beating Anna-Jonesboro on Friday night 64-44. On Saturday night, the Lions were on the road at Massac County and dropped that one 59-52. Nashville last weekend split their two games as well, beating Sparta on Friday 57-29 and losing to Fairfield by a field goal 44-42.

The Lions and Hornets last met back on January 4th, with the Hornets beating the Lions 45-34 at Carterville.

Scott Hudson and I will have the call on NewsRadio WJPF and on the live-stream starting about 7:30 pm.

Good luck to both of our Lions teams tonight!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!
