On To Basketball Season

This weekend all of the remaining high school football teams in Southern Illinois were beaten in the IHSA football playoffs.

With that said, today is the first “official” day that high schools begin practice for the basketball season for the boys. The girls teams starting their official practices a week ago.

This Friday, Carterville High School will hold their "Meet the Lions" night where all of the athletes that compete in winter sports will be introduced prior to the basketball teams scrimmaging.

Dinner will be served starting at 5:00 pm in the cafeteria and the player introductions will start at 7:00 pm in the gym.

On November 19th the Lions boys basketball team will open the season when they travel to Herrin to play the Tigers in the first game of the Pyramid Plus tournament.

The Lady Lions will begin their season when they travel to Salem to play Belleville Althoff in the Thanksgiving tournament.

Scott Hudson and I will have all the action for you on News WJPF, fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled tip-off time for each game.

Also, be looking for a special announcement in the very near future that will have a very big impact for Carterville Lions sports fans. I can’t say anything more right now, but I am VERY excited and can’t wait to officially fill you in.
