Lions Improve to 5-1 After Road Win

Carterville Head Coach Shane Hawkins watched his guards shine in a 76-49 conference at Sparta.

Setting the stage with strong defense on one end of the court and aggressive drives to the hole on the other end, it was Peyton Bittle, Caden Hawkins and Bryce Anderson that led the Lions in scoring.

Peyton Bittle was the top point getter for the Lions with 14. Bryce Anderson and Caden Hawkins each added 13. Carterville once again received balanced scoring up and down the roster as Max Poole had 8 points, Taylor Siemer and Kade Lustenberger each chipped in with 7. Lions Senior and leading scorer this season Eli Downen added 5. Ben Haake added 3 and Blake Burkey wraps up the scoring with 2.

The Lions are now 5-1 overall and push their conference record to 3-1. Tuesday night will be the next SIRR Conference game for the Lions when they head to Pinckneyville to face the Panthers who will be looking to avenge the six point loss they suffered last week at Carterville.

Tonight the Lions head to Centralia to face the Orphans in non-conference play. Tonight's game will start just a little earlier than usual. The Freshman will kick things off starting at 4:00 PM. The JV game should start somewhere around 5:15 and the varsity game will start at approximately 7:00 PM.

You can hear play-by-play coverage starting somewhere around 6:45 pm as Scott Hudson will join me in Centralia.
