On Tuesday night Carterville Lions sports returned as Coach Shane Hawkins and the boys took to the road to face the Trico Pioneers.
After a first half that saw the Lions trail Trico 15-14 at the break, the Lions came out with aggressive defense and popped thirty two second half points in a 46-30 win.
Eli Downen let the way in scoring for the Lions. After only scoring four in the first half, he was dominate in the second half of the game scoring seventeen of his game high twenty three points.

The Lions are back at it tonight when they face cross-county rival Herrin in their season opener. Game time is slated for approximately 7:45 pm. Scott Hudson and I will have the call on NewsRadio WJPF starting with our pre-game show at 7:30 pm.

On Wednesday night, Carterville's new and returning head Coach Todd Rogers watched as his Lions dominated the Fairfield Mules 63-32.
Alecia Doyle led the way with twenty three points and her sister, Freshman Amayah Doyle hit for twenty one in her high school debut. Olivia Cecil scored eight and Kasha Ward added 6. Also getting in the scorebook were Macey Lentz, Hannah Lynch, Hunter Noto, and Averi Vanderzille,

The Lady Lions are back in action Saturday morning when they will face the Herrin Tigers at home. JV game is slated to start at 10:00 am.
